Saying Farewell to my Canon 50D tonight.

Saying Farewell to my Canon 50D tonight.

Tonight I said farewell to an old friend. 9 years ago I proudly purchased a Canon 50D from Best Buy with my tax return. It was a huge leap of faith at the time. I had NO idea what I was doing but I knew I wanted to be a photographer. I knew I could and would make money at it!  I was determined!

My family at the time thought I was crazy. They thought 3,500k was an insane amount of money to spend on a camera and that I was just being careless as a single Mom to spend so much money on a "toy" and not needs. Well let me tell you, this camera in my eyes...was absolutely a need! I had just been diagnosed at 23 years old with Epilepsy. I could no longer drive and I was a new Mom whose husband was deployed over seas. This camera would become my outlet which would get me through many trials and struggles.

Just 2 years after purchasing my Canon 50D in 2010, I opened my photography studio. I have not looked back since. I pursued my entrepreneurship and would refuse to let anyone tell me I couldn't be successful at it!

Tonight my hubby surprised me with a brand spankin' new Canon 5D Mark iv! Nearly 10 years have gone by before I enjoyed an upgrade and I have to say, it's about time!  I feel I have more than paid my dues with "make due with what ya got."

These are the last images I will ever take with my 50D and I have to say they are worthy.

Here's to a new chapter in my journey!
