Save the Drama for Your Llama, and Other Petting Zoo fun!
If you were to ask Kailani what her favorite thing about Grammy’s house is, she would say “the ranch” without any hesitation at all. Why?
Well duuuh, there’s a petting zoo at Grammy’s ranch!
(Let me clarify that this is NOT my mother’s ranch, it’s where she boards her horses, but in Kailani’s mind it’s “grammy’s ranch” ok.)
Complete with llamas, emus, peacocks, macaws, goats, sheep, and even guinea pigs and turtles, what kid wouldn’t be obsessed? I mean seriously.
The sheep are shy but the goats…well, let’s just say they never learned their manners. Some of them are just down right mean and grumpy.
Due to the goats unpredictability and Kailani’s size, I don’t yet allow her behind the fence with them, but she loves to pet them on the ears and they are usually all too happy to oblige her.
She tells me frequently that the “goats miss me Mommy, we need to go say “Hi” to them, ok!”
Then you have the emus! At first I thought they were ostriches! I was so embarrassed when I found out that indeed, the are NOT. The names? Common now! Kill me with cuteness.
Finally my personal favorites the llamas. I mean seriously, llamas. Who doesn’t love their incredible ability to be lovely and ugly all at the same time?
I found myself whispering under my breath as I took their images; “I’m too sexy for my shirt, too sexy for my shirt, too sexy for my shirt…” you know you know the song!
I certainly can’t forget the macaw and peacocks. I find it interesting that they are all in one cage and get along well. One day I’ll capture the male as he flares his tail!
