Make a Simple Image Extraordinary with this Simple Pro - Trick.
Do you ever feel stuck in a creative rut? Your capturing incredible moments but after awhile they all kind of start to look the same somehow? So what do you do? How do you rock the boat a bit and capture those “wow” shots you are pouring your heart and soul out trying to create?
Change your perspective! Yes. It’s really that simple. Today I’m going to share with you a few images I’ve taken that have a “wow” factor to them, simply because I created a unique perspective!
Shoot Behind Walls!
Below are a few samples from my work where I used a wall to create a clear focal point. Notice your eye immediately is drawn to the subject. It also creates a sense of intimacy with the subject. You almost feel like you’re actually there with them.
Shoot Behind Curtains!
Another fun method is curtains! If I have the ability to step outside and shoot my subject from behind a curtain that moves by the breeze you can create absolutely magic! Below is a series I captured using this method at an in-home Life Style Newborn Session last year.
Use Windows and Blinds to Create Dramatic Scenes!
This is one of my favorite ways to capture my kids! I love using my blinds right before sunset and creating dramatic silhouette with deep shadows!
Shoot Between & Behind Branches & Leaves!
Possibly my favorite composition method to create something awesome out of an otherwise normal scene, is shooting between branches and trees!
Shoot Behind Anything at All!
If all else fails, just create a visual obstruction with just about anything!
The point is to just get creative! Using am obstructed view to create drastic scenes is all part of the art! I do recommend however that you learn the rules before you break them!
Our next blog will talk about the Rule of 3rds and what that means in the world of photography!
